The State Department confirmed the death of another American tourist in the Dominican Republic. Joseph Allen, 55, was found dead in his room at the Terra Linda Resort in Sosua on June 13. The New Jersey resident was vacationing there with some friends to celebrate the birthday of one of them. According to CBS, Allen complained of having heat while in the pool. The subject went to take a cold shower in his room. The friends looked for him after a while and the man said he did not feel well. Allen would not go to breakfast the next day, which led his friends to ask the hotel for help. “It was on the floor, completely cold,” said Jamie Reed, the deceased’s sister. The family said that Allen used to go to the Dominican Republic for his rest. The recent deaths did not affect his decision to visit the Caribbean country. Allen’s body has not yet been delivered, but the family knew he would be embalmed, something that worries them. “We want answers. We do not want them to do anything wrong. We have asked for help from many, including Senator (Robert) Menéndez, “Reed said. “My brother was Muslim, there are many things to fix. At this time we can not give you the proper burial. ”
Allen is the eighth tourist to die in the Dominican Republic since 2018.
