The Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, Francisco Javier García and the Secretary of State of Puerto Rico, Luis Rivera Marín, met this Friday, where they discussed various issues to strengthen tourism between these two nations.  In the meeting Rivera Marín was accompanied by Manuel Laboy Rivera, secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce; Carla Campos Vidal, Executive Director of the Tourism Company, as well as Javier Rivera Ríos, Insurance Commissioner.  After the meeting concluded, the Secretary of State of Puerto Rico informed that the meeting with Minister Garcia is a manifestation of collaboration to ensure that together with the cruise, shipping and airline companies, the fate of both jurisdictions can be achieved. promote more tourism development. He expressed that this is an example of the joint initiatives that will be implemented in order to develop employment, economic and tourism in both the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. The Dominican Minister of Tourism, thanked the visit of Secretary Rivera and his delegation, while expressing that the meeting was quite fruitful where a balance was made of several aspects, such as the one that has to do with the economic and tourist development of the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. He emphasized that in the case of air and cruise tourism they are the great strengths of the economies of both destinations, where there are many shared advantages when all efforts are combined. He also informed that technical commissions will be formed to work towards streamlining the processes of the agreements signed.
