The Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier García, said that he is working on a campaign aimed at the US market to reposition the Dominican Republic as the safest destination in Latin America. In this sense, he will travel this Friday, June 28 of the current year, in the morning hours, to the city of New York, where he will hold various meetings with airlines, tour operators and other companies related to the tourism sector. He recalled that several US companies were hired in order to “implement a communication plan to provide correct information about what is happening in the country.” He added, by participating in the morning program Hoy Hoy, which is broadcast by Color Visión, channel 9, which similarly, that information is being disseminated in Spain. García recalled that security standards for tourists in the Dominican Republic are recognized by the US Department of State, its embassy and many Latin American governments, thanks to the effectiveness of the Specialized Body for Tourist Safety (Cestur). “In addition, in the last three years there has been a reduction of 56% in the number of people killed,” he said.
