The Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier García, led on Tuesday the First Forum of Negotiations between Chinese and Dominican investors and tour operators that seeks the realization of business to get Chinese tourists to visit the Dominican Republic. In his opening speech of the negotiations, Minister Garcia highlighted the importance of this activity to attract Chinese tourists to the country, this being the first tourist market in the world. The official received the Chinese delegation as members of the World Tourism Cities Federation – WTCF (World Federation of Tourist Cities), who exhausted a series of activities in Punta Cana and Santo Domingo, member cities of the organization dedicated to promoting exchanges and cooperation between cities and tourism agencies worldwide. The activity began on Monday in Punta Cana and continued on Tuesday in Santo Domingo, where it has been scheduled to make trips to several points in the eastern region, Santo Domingo, Colonial City and commercial areas. The main leaders of travel agencies and representatives of television, radio and print media in Beijing, capital of the People’s Republic of China, attend this tourist forum. The visit of the WTCF group, the first to be held in the country, is an opportunity to establish contacts with representatives of tourism sector entities, travel agents and local tour operators in order to further strengthen the cooperation of both countries in this area, as well as increase the number of Chinese tourists to the country.
