Authorities and representatives of the tourism sector have joined efforts to counter attacks on Dominican tourism, whose origin is unknown and should be nipped in the bud. A crisis cabinet has been created and an in-depth investigation is being carried out to find the generators of these attacks which, with such bad intentions, are damaging the image of RD tourism. But in parallel we would have to act without pause to avoid that the malicious wave of disinformation go on and grows so much that it causes irreversible damage, because in this media attack there have been no limits and they have taken the isolated facts to the plane of the speculation and exaggeration. The damage that is wanted to the main economic line of the country is so immense that the international press has fallen even in the land of falsehood. An example of this was the version that Marcos Rojo, player of Manchester United, had left the hotel in Punta Cana where he was staying after learning of the deaths of American tourists, a version that was quickly denied by the Specialized Body of Tourist Security (Cestur ), on the contrary, the soccer player had such a cozy vacation that he decided to extend his stay in the resort. The Dominican authorities do well when they show their faces and come out with this malicious and harmful information. Before this communication bombardment the worst and least advisable would be to sit idly by. On the other hand, all this makes us think of the old saying: “The tree that throws stones is the one that bears fruit”. There are many RD competitors in tourism, and there are those who would like to take advantage of this type of campaign, aimed at damaging the image of this nation, the Caribbean’s main tourist development.
